Task Force on review of Kenya Maritime Laws Which finished its work in April this year recommended for establishment of a maritime authority to create shipping policies, make legislation and implement them.

Strangely up to-date the government of Kenya has not established the authority

We call upon all Kenya members of Parliament Civil Societies, Human Rights groups, Trade Unions, all men and women of goodwill to exert more pressure to the minister of transport and communications Hon. John Michuki so that he may table in the parliament the maritime authority bill which is currently awaiting cabinet approval.

The establishment  of the maritime authority will help to transform Kenya into an industrialized nation , create more employment, increase trade, and place Kenya among the leading maritime nations of the world.

The task force on the review of Maritime laws of Kenya was appointed by the Attorney General Hon. Amos Wako on 8th February 2002 with the mandate to review maritime laws in Kenya and make appropriate recommendations.
